Cybersecurity: Rules Everyone Should Know

Vice Rector for Security, Regime and Personnel Svetlana Vladimirovna Kritsyna held a meeting with students on the topic of cybersecurity. In her speech the Vice Rector emphasized that in the digital age, everyone is a potential target for cybercriminals. Young people, who actively use online services, social media and mobile apps for their studies and everyday life, are especially vulnerable.

The focus was on social engineering methods used by scammers to obtain confidential information, such as bank card details, logins, passwords and confirmation codes. Svetlana Vladimirovna provided specific examples from her practice, analyzed typical trigger phrases to pay attention to and explained why calls from "bank employees" or "law enforcement agencies" should not be trusted.

The discussion also touched on the safe use of public Wi-Fi networks the importance of two-factor authentication and the need for regular monitoring of card transactions via SMS notifications. Svetlana Vladimirovna urged students to be vigilant, critically evaluate any suspicious messages and calls and if in doubt contact the bank or law enforcement.

Vice Rector for Ideological and Educational Work Lyudmila Grigoryevna Soboleva addressed the audience. She once again urged students to adhere to the rules of digital hygiene and warned them against reckless online behavior, as digital literacy is not only the skill of searching for information but also the ability to recognize dangerous content and avoid spreading it.

"The digital environment is not a legal vacuum, – L.G. Soboleva emphasized. – Publishing, reposting, or even commenting favorably on extremist materials carries administrative and criminal penalties. A repost or like seemingly innocent in your opinion, can have serious consequences."
