The Military Department at the Gomel State Medical Institute was established on March 18, 1993, in accordance with Resolution No. 152 of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.
By order of the Rector of the Gomel State Medical Institute dated October 14, 2002, March 18 was designated as the Establishment Day of the Military Department of Gomel State Medical University. Nikolai Yegorovich Bazhenov was appointed the first head of the Military Department.
In 2023, the department acquired clinical status.
