The Department of Internal Diseases No. 3 was created on July 01, 2012 on the basis of the Healthcare Institution “Regional Hospital for Disabled Veterans of the Great Patriotic War”.
The department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Salivonchik Dimitri Pavlovich.
In September 2012, the Department of Internal Diseases No. 3 was combined with a course of medical rehabilitation with the Department of Polyclinic (Out-patient) Therapy and General Medical Practice with a course of dermatovenerology.
Since May 2014, as a result of reorganization, the department was renamed the Department of Internal Medicine No. 3 with a course of medical rehabilitation.
In 2016, a course of radiation diagnostics and radiation therapy joined the department.
Since 01.04.2021, in connection with the formation of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Therapy with a course of advanced training and retraining, the department was renamed the Department of Internal Medicine No. 3 with a course of functional diagnostics.
Students of the 3rd, 4th and 5th courses of the medical diagnostic faculty study at the department; 3, 5, 6 courses of the Faculty of Medicine, as well as graduate students, clinical residents and interns are trained.
Currently, the department teaches two main disciplines "Internal diseases, military field therapy and polyclinic therapy" and "Functional diagnostics," which are studied by students of the 4th and 5th courses of the medical and diagnostic faculty and students of the 3rd course of the medical and preventive faculty.
The disciplines "Emergency Cardiology and Other Emergencies" and "Internal Diseases" are also taught for students of the 6th year of the Faculty of Medicine.
Optional classes are held on various topics for students of 3,4.5 courses of medical diagnostic and medical faculties.
Since 2020, the staff of the department have been part of the working group on overcoming COVID-19 in Gomel and the Gomel region.
