Foreign citizens arriving to study receive a study visa at embassies and consulates of the Republic of Belarus.
In case there is no diplomatic mission of the Republic of Belarus in the country, a visa can be obtained at Consular Department of Minsk National Airport.
To obtain a visa at Consular Department of Minsk National Airport upon arrival to Belarus, it is obligatory to have:
1. valid passport;
2. secondary education documents, legalized in accordance with the established procedure (apostille or legalization);
3. completed visa application form;
4. 1 photo sized 35х45;
5. original study invitation with valid entry terms;
6. medical report on a complete examination, indicating that the applicant is physically and mentally healthy and can study in the climatic conditions of the Republic of Belarus;
7. certificate of absence of HIV infection issued by the official health authority of the applicant’s country of origin;
8. cash money required for receiving a student visa (from 130 to 200 US dollars) and for paying tuition fee and living expenses (minimum 3,000 US dollars).
IMPORTANT! All documents in a foreign language must be translated into Russian language and notarized.
In order to obtain migration registration and process for temporary stay and temporary residence permit in the internal affairs authorities,within 3 days after arrival to the Republic of Belarus, the applicant must submit the following documents to Gomel State Medical University (5 Lange Str., main building, office 115):
1. valid passport with a study visa and its copy;
2. migration card;
3. copy of medical insurance policy;
4. receipt for payment of state fee for registration permit;
5. notarized passport translation;
6. 2 photos.
IMPORTANT! The student is issued a certificate replacing passport for the period of obtaining temporary residence permit (registration).
A temporary residence permit is issued for a maximum period of 1 year, taking into account:
- passport validity period,
- medical insurance policy validity period,
- validity period of rental contract (in case of registration at an apartment).
To extend registration upon successful completion of studies, a student is to submit documents to Dean's office no later than 15 working days before the end of the registration period.
In case of changing a place of residence to modify registration data, a student must provide the following documents to the dean's office within 3 days:
1. passport;
2. notarized passport translation;
3. original of rental contract and its copy.
IMPORTANT! Staying at a new place of residence is possible only if the appropriate permission is received from the citizenship and migration authorities.
To obtain an exit/entry visa, it is necessary to:
1. make an application for a vacation addressed to the Dean and obtain an appropriate permission;
2. pay state fee and present a receipt for payment;
3. submit passport to passport and visa officer minimum 15 working days before departure.
Departure dates during summer holidays:
1-2 years – from 01.07 till 01.09
3-4 years – from 25.07 till 01.09
5year – from 01.08 till 01.09
An exit-entry visa is issued for a period of up to 90 calendar days, including the days of exit and entry. When issuing a visa, the period of temporary residence permit is taken into account. In case a student's period of residence permit expires while he or she is outside the territory of the Republic of Belarus, an exit visa is issued only.
Before leaving for home country, a passport with a visa is given back to a student only after he or she submits a signed departure checklist to the Dean's office.
In case of expulsion from the university, a student is obliged to submit documents for exit to the Dean's office within 5 days and leave the Republic of Belarus within 14 days.
In case of refusal to leave the country, a student will be deported and deprived of the right to enter the country for up to 5 years. All deportation costs are the responsibility of a student.
Violation of the migration regime entails a fine of up to 50 basic units (1 basic unit) and administrative liability, including deportation for a period of 1 to 5 years.
In case a fine is imposed by the Department of Citizenship and Migration, the fine must be paid within 5 days and documents must be provided for registration of temporary stay and residence permit.
