White Petals of Hope: November 17 – World Prematurity Day

White petals are a symbolic name for premature babies, children who were in such a hurry to be born.

For several years now a meeting of parents and their "hurried babies" has been held in honor of this day. Pediatricians from the departments caring for these children as well as anesthesiologists and intensive care physicians, have participated. Faculty from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, along with the Faculty of Advanced Training and Preparatory Studies (FAP) course, and obstetrician-gynecologist residents have also participated in organizing and conducting this celebratory event for several years. This year students from the Faculty of International Students also participated.

This format helps students better understand the role of the obstetrician-gynecologist not only as a "birth doctor" but also as a key participant in the family support system at all stages: from pregnancy planning to the neonatal period.

White Petal Day is an opportunity for every mother to say THANK YOU to the doctors who worked so hard to save their child. It's also a reminder that every birthday of their baby is a true joy. The participation of obstetrician-gynecologist residents in this event underscores the continuity of generations of doctors and the humanistic approach to their training.

This initiative helps future specialists understand not only the clinical aspects of preterm birth, but also the emotional, social and psychological aspects of the lives of families with premature babies.
